Tiny Masters of Today

News flash: Brooklyn tweens are being exploited!!! Amber alert!!! Tiny Masters of Today are two kids making fuzzy garage rock that sounds a whole lot more calculated than it is and have an album, Skeletons, coming out on Mute in June. And they’re already getting reworked, remixed, and helped out by the YYY’s, CSS, and Kimya Dawson. I’m shocked and appalled.

Pigeon John and Flynn Adam are Rootbeer

West Coast hip-hop mainstay Pigeon John and some dude named Flynn Adam are joining forces as Rootbeer. They will release their debut EP, The Pink Limousine, on March 10, and hit the road for some tour dates. What’s it gonna sound like? Straight from the horse’s mouth: “MGMT injected with some N.E.R.D. and A Tribe Called Quest.”

Red Red Meat – Bunny Gets Paid (Reissue)

The members of Red Red Meat have moved onto bigger and arguably better things – Califone, Brian Deck’s production work (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) – but they were one of the best Chicago bands of the 1990s. Sub Pop will reissue Bunny Gets Paid this March 24th, and the band is getting back together for a bunch of shows this spring. Listen to some music here:

Japanese Motors to Open for Modest Mouse

I saw Japanese Motors play at the LA Weekly Detour Festival this fall, and I wondered then what all the fuss was about. Still, they get to open for Modest Mouse and I don’t. Check out the tour dates here. Also, they’ve got a new EP coming out on Vice on March 3 called Perception of Reality.
