MP3: Neon Indian – “Terminally Chill”

Neon Indian makes music that sounds like soft ’70s rock performed by Kraftwerk. It warbles and bleeps along, but never pummels you in the face – which is cool, unless you’re into face pummeling. Don’t be ashamed if you are.

Take a listen here.

Tour Dates: Grand Duchy

Black Francis’ new band, Grand Duchy, a collaboration with his wife, Violet Clark, will tour the U.S. this summer in support of their new album, Petits Fours, out on Cooking Vinyl. The album is a poppy yet dark venture into ’80s rock territory, with a healthy dose of Pixies-style power-pop hooks. You can read my review for Blurt here. And check the tour dates here.

Tour Dates: Double Dagger

Baltimore’s Double Dagger released an excellent bass and drums-centric album, More, this past May on Thrill Jockey. Seriously, it’s hard, it’s interesting, it rocks, and it’s motivating. They’ll set out on a nationwide tour this week. See the dates here.
