Stream: Big Business – “Always Never Know When to Quit”

One more for the weekend – some fucking rad rock from Big Business. Blast this hard and long. New album out late July on Gold Metal Records. Listen to “Always Never Know When to Quit” via Stereogum.

Video: Justice – “Civilization”

And…. some holiday weekend Justice.

Download: Wu-Tang Clan – “Only The Rugged Survive”

Some new Wu for your holiday weekend, off of their forthcoming album, Legendary Weapons, due out June 28th. Listen to “Only The Rugged Survive” here. RZA sounds nice.

Film: Shark Night 3D Trailer

Finally, David R. Ellis, the acclaimed director of Snakes on a Plane, has another movie out that lives up to the the promise he once showed. Helping out are the producers of Hostel and the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so there’s that too. Watch the trailer for Shark Night 3D below.

Download: RareBit – “Blue Blood Baskets”

Justin Hopkins, aka RareBit, recently signed to the LA label Non Projects. His first single, “Blue Blood Baskets,” showcases his penchant for ethereal, pretty, experimental, ambient electronic. That’s a lot of adjectives, but listen and you’ll see why.

Video: Longevity – “Tantrum”

Longevity’s getting some Method Man comparisons from his PR machine, but I’m hearing a little bit of Chali 2na here as well. Watch this dark video for “Tantrum” below.

Video: Wiley – “Numbers In Action”

Wiley’s new album, 100% Publishing, comes out on July 5. Watch the new video for “Numbers In Action” below. If you like Wiley, you’ll like this because there’s like 10 of him in it.

Travel: Vancouver Island’s Wild Side

My first piece for BBC Travel is running today, a story about backpacking the West Coast Trail. I hiked this with some great people last September, and it was one of the most challenging and amazing backpacking trips I’ve ever taken – and not just because it was my first backpacking trip. Read about it here and view the photo gallery here.

Video: HARD Summer Trailer

This is actually a pretty clever trailer for the HARD Fest taking place this August in LA.

Video: Bonnie Prince Billy – “There is No God”

Bonnie Prince Billy’s new single, “There is No God”/”God is Love” is both a charitable effort supporting Save Our Gulf and Turtle Hospital, and an extolling of a god that “puts mouth on cock and vagina.” I can get behind that… almost. Watch the video below, better than any episode of Treme ever created, and visit the charity sites.

Mixtape: Mobb Deep & 40 Glocc (G-Unit) – We Run This Vol. 6 (Mixed by Mr. E of RPS Fam)

Prodigy is out of jail, and Mobb Deep are back and don’t seem like they’re about to revoke their G-Unit membership anytime soon. Check out this snippet of their new mixtape, available for download on iTunes now. I miss Alchemist’s production, but I’ll take this in the meantime.

Download: Pete Rock and Smif & Wessun feat. Styles P and Sean Price – “That’s Hard”

I’m kinda giving this one a pass because I know there’s gotta be much better stuff on this new album. After all, it’s Pete Rock and Smif & Wessun. But listen to “It’s Hard” for a taste.

Video: The Primeridian – “Drop The Needle”

New hip-hop from an excellent new duo, The Primeridian. Watch this video below, new underground is not usually this good.

Video: Random Axe – “The Hex”

Three of my fave rappers – Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, Black Milk – are Random Axe. This video is terrible, but still.

Download: “Told Ya (DJ Melo Moombahton Edit)”

What is Moombahton? Mad Decent says it’s this. Kinda sounds like reggaeton sweating hard on the dance floor, but shit be bumping.
